Follow mains water through a typical under-sink reverse osmosis system as you scroll. Exact stages vary by model.
Malta's supply is treated and monitored to drinking-water standards. A reverse osmosis system refines it further for taste and clarity, right under your sink.
The first cartridge catches sand, rust flakes and fine particles, which also protects every stage after it.
Activated carbon reduces chlorine taste and odour. It also shields the membrane, which chlorine would otherwise wear out.
Water pressure pushes water through a membrane with extremely fine pores. Most dissolved salts and minerals can't pass, and are rinsed away to the drain. Some systems return part of this water to cut waste. Ask Jean Paul about the options.
Filtered water collects in a small pressurised tank, so a full glass is ready the moment you open the tap. Tankless systems skip this and filter on demand.
A last carbon stage polishes the taste on its way to a dedicated drinking-water tap beside your sink. Filters are changed on the manufacturer's schedule to keep it all working as intended.

Malta's publicly supplied drinking water is monitored and regulated to meet drinking-water quality standards. Many households still choose a filtration system for taste, convenience or specific preferences.
